Zoo Fun

So this weekend we went to the Point Defiance Zoo. It was fun for the most part we saw lots of different animals Carter was most interested in the fish and we spent alot of time answering "What's that?" We are definitely hitting the what and why stage. Reading at night gets longer and longer so enjoy this card inspired by the zoo.

Loud colors = quiet card

I have been working on the ability to create simple yet sweet cards. This weekend I had time to just hang out and do what I love. CREATE. I needed a little me time and was inspired believe or not. I used Whoops - A - Daisy which I thought I would struggle with because of the loud colors. But I came to a conclusion loud colors - quiet card - meaning if it is loud balance is with simple. I love the two cards because of the sayings. I'm celebrating today because you are my friend. This month I hope to really get you some great artwork to be inspired by.

My Secret Issue!

So I came to a realization recently, that I have a secret I must confess. I realized the reason I have no photo's to scrapbook is because I have not been taking pictures! I know a crisis right! Well, the question was why? I thought about it and came to a few different conclusions.
1. I have been working too much! ( Yes, I mean scrapbooking!)
2. I have become bored with the same old photos!
3. I hate being put into a box (Christmas Layouts )
4. I need a new camera.
5. I am uninspired (no photo's)
I realized this when speaking with my hostess Jen. She is very well respected in the Scrapbook industry and has been working in the industry for a long time. She too...had essentially been burnt out and had not scrapbooked in forever. We talked late into the night and I realized I am ready to move to the next chapter of my scrapbooking. I want to scrapbook the meaningful stuff, the stuff that matters and maybe that stuff isn't just a holiday or event. Maybe that stuff is picking flowers on a Sunday afternoon. I want to scrapbook my life, because although the everyday is exactly that...everyday - there are these brief moments that set that day a part. Small but so important. So Jen told me to take pictures everyday and I have. An amazing thing has happened in just the last few days. I am excited by the moments I have captured and although they seem as if they are just another day. They are the moments that put together create the design of my life and my family life. They are the magical moments.
So thank you Jen. I have also ordered the book she suggested PhotoFreedom and signed on to a website called Big Picture. (Go to Scrapbook.com and go to classes) I plan on reading the book and reorganizing the way I scrapbook because these are my family memories and I can't get burnt out, they're too magical.

EiEiO

EiEio....Carter has determined that all animals are EiEio's and there for when visiting them he must wear his EiEio hat! It the perfect oppurtunity to snap a shoot for my scrapbook pleasure. This weekend I am taking a much needed rest and spending sometime with the family. I have big plans ... but Carter would never know the difference between a walk in the neighborhood from a day at the beach so we will see where the days take us! Enjoy your weekend and I will see you Tuesday. Make sure to get some first days of summer shots!

The new Whoopsi - daisy is brighter and bolder then any other paper I have scrapped with CTMH. I have to admit I was scared! But I made this beautiful card that stands out against the rest. Who said I couldn't do simple!

I have been accused of being unable to make simple cards, but I am hear today to prove you wrong. I did it! I really did it! If any of you have ever been to my workshops, classes or gatherings I tend to go overboard...it is the scrapbooker in me. I have been scrapbooking for so long and have collected so much stuff the only way to get rid of my goods is to pile it on the page or hand it to my neighbors...who love my freebies! I however was able to stamp these cards simply and add some glitter. I used the June Word Puzzle for the orange card and the June Stamp of the month - Life's a Jungle to create the blue card which I love. I also used glitter to spice it up a bit. Keep checking for more pics!

Scraplifting Challenge

Scraplifting is a word only scrapbookers know. It can be defined like shoplifting except that you are lifting an idea or a layout from another scrapbook artist. So your challenge this week is to scraplift a layout from someone else. It can be a mag. a website or from scrapbook.com The rule of scraplifting is give credit wear credit is due. (Don't submit an image as your own in a contest if it is not your original design) So this week get inspired by someone else.

Step 3Attach a concho to the two corner folds. Thread ribbon through the concho holes and tie for a finished look. (To use eyelets instead of conchos, use a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" piece of paper and thread Waxy Flax or hemp through the smaller holes.)

Reflections

When reflections was re-introduced and I purchased it I was a little confused on how to use the book. But I have since created some beautiful layouts using the book. I love the tips and tricks on each page that help you to think outside of the box.

The foundational scrapbook layout patterns found in Jeanette R. Lynton’s newest volume of Reflections™ Scrapbook Program confirm how visionary Jeannette’s original patterns were. Developed when she was a teenage scrapbooking enthusiast and first published in the late 1990s, these basic patterns have stood the test of time, yet remain fresh for today. You’ll love the updated program which features 100 12” x 12” scrapbook pages, each with a complete blueprint, detailed assembly instructions, companion layout guides, photo options, and creative techniques. These essential patterns will form the backbone of all your beautiful albums for years to come.

Personalizing Mini Albums

Step 1 Remove the album ties. Cut desired Background & Texture (B&T) paper 1" longer and 1" wider than the album. Leaving a 1/2" border on all sides, begin attaching the paper, working from the spine out. Cut small slits on each side of the spine bends.

Step 2 Fold the excess B&T toward the inside of the album and attach, wrapping like a present. Start with the top and bottom pieces, followed by the sides.

Step 3 Re-attach the ribbon or twine using Mini Glue Dots®. To keep the inside covers neat, cut a piece of coordinating cardstock 1/2" smaller than the inside front and back covers and adhere.
